Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) has obtained membership in the Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) for the Water and Sanitation Sector (WASH) in Yemen, for a period of two years.
The tasks of the strategic advisory group include:
Strategic Planning: Develop strategic plans to improve water, sanitation and hygiene services in Yemen.
Coordination: Ensure coordination between different actors in the WASH sector.
Verification of action plans: Review of action plans submitted by organizations working in the sector.
Advocacy and Awareness: Spreading awareness about the importance of WASH services.
Integration between different teams: Ensuring integration of efforts between the various teams working in the sector.
Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the performance of organizations operating in the sector.
Ensuring adherence to standards: Ensure all organizations adhere to international standards for WASH services.
Capacity strengthening: Supporting and enhancing the capabilities of organizations working in the sector.
Accountability of stakeholders: Ensure accountability of all stakeholders in the sector.
Publishing the results: publishing the results of the work periodically.
The strategic advisory group consists of:
International non-governmental organizations: 3 (2 new elected, 1 from the previous cycle): elected for a period of two years.
National non-governmental organizations: 3 (2 new elected, 1 from the previous cycle): elected for a period of two years.
Members of the Ministry of Water and Environment: 2 automatic members of SAG.
Hygiene, water and environmental sanitation coordination team number 3 (coordinator, co-ordinator and IMO).
UN agencies active in emergency situations: 2 (IOM/UNICEF).
With a total of 13 members.
BCFHD membership in the WASH Sector Strategic Advisory Group confirms its leadership role in providing water, sanitation and hygiene services in Yemen.
Through this membership, BCFHD seeks to contribute effectively to improving WASH services throughout Yemen.
