Bana Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) participated today in the “Agricultural and Fisheries Economic Opportunities” conference, organized by the local authority in Taiz Governorate in coordination with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the occasion of World Food Day. The conference was held under the patronage of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Major General Salem Al-Suqtri, and the Governor of Taiz Governorate, Nabil Shamsan.
The conference witnessed the presentation of several papers and discussions aimed at promoting investment in the agricultural and fisheries sectors in the governorate.
Banaa Charity for Human Development presented a paper entitled “The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Enhancing Investment Opportunities in the Agricultural, Livestock, and Fisheries Sectors in Taiz Governorate.” The paper highlighted the importance of cooperation with civil society organizations to promote sustainable development in these sectors, especially in light of the difficult circumstances facing the country.
The paper, presented by Dr. Faisal Al-Sabry, Food Security and Livelihoods Sector Coordinator at BCFHD, also addressed the role of civil society organizations during times of conflict and the importance of enhancing food security and providing sustainable livelihoods in crisis-affected areas, with a focus on Taiz Governorate as one of the most affected governorates.
The conference included an exhibition of agricultural and livestock products, showcasing a variety of local products that highlight the agricultural and livestock potential in Taiz Governorate. The exhibition included displays of traditional and innovative products aimed at encouraging investment and supporting local farmers and producers, with a focus on improving product quality and enhancing marketing opportunities at both the local and international levels.
This conference contributes to strengthening dialogue between various government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector, with the aim of exploring investment opportunities available in the agricultural and fisheries sectors. It also aims to develop effective strategies to support food security and improve livelihoods in Taiz Governorate, focusing on addressing the challenges posed by the current situation in the country and providing sustainable solutions to develop the local economy.
