OCHA Delegation Visits Taizz to Monitor Implementation of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Project for IDPs.

A delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) made a field visit to Taizz Governorate this morning to monitor the implementation of the “Provision of Comprehensive Emergency and Life-saving WASH Assistance to Vulnerable IDPs and Host Communities in Salh and Al Qahirah Districts – Taizz” project. The project is being implemented by BCFHD with funding from YHF.

The delegation included Mr. Alaa Abdel Rab, OCHA Program and Monitoring Officer, and Ms. Amal Al-Aghbari, OCHA Humanitarian Officer (Turabah – Taizz). Also present were Eng. Sadiq Al-Tubai, Projects Director at the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, Eng. Ali Al-Qabati, Wush Cluster Coordinator (Taizz and the West Coast), and Eng. Abdul Razzaq Al-Ashwal, Director of Operations at the Local Water Corporation.

The delegation was received by Mr. Tawfiq Abdul Khabir, Secretary-General of BCFHD, Mr. Riyad Salam, Director of Programs at BCFHD, and Dr. Marwan Saeed, Project Director.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on:
The progress of the project and the challenges facing implementation.
The needs of IDPs and host communities in the field of water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Discussions were held on ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation between OCHA and BCFHD to ensure the continued provision of essential services to IDPs and host communities.

The OCHA delegation praised the efforts of BCFHD in implementing the project, stressing the importance of providing water, sanitation, and hygiene services to IDPs and host communities, especially in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions facing Yemen.

This project is one of the important projects that contribute to improving the health conditions of IDPs and host communities in Taizz Governorate.
