Achievement Brings Smiles to Faces of Hamir Village Residents: Rehabilitation and Paved Roads Connecting the Mountain and Valley.

In a joyful ceremony, Bani Hamir Isolation in Maqbana District, Taiz Governorate, celebrated the handover of the Hamir Mountain Village Road Rehabilitation and Paving Project and the Hamir Valley Village Road.

This achievement is the fruit of fruitful cooperation between BCFHD and Oxfam, within the framework of the “Building Resilience Through Integrated Community-Based and Humanitarian Systems Transformation and Leadership in Yemen” project in Al Ma’afir and Maqbana Districts in Taiz Governorate.

The project was implemented through the “Cash for Work” activity with the participation of 180 beneficiaries from the residents of Hamir Al Jabal and Hamir Al Wadi villages, during the period from December 2023 to May 2024.

The project included works that included:

Leveling the targeted roads with a length of 930 meters.

Paving the most rugged sections with a length of 680 meters.

Building retaining walls with a volume of 110 cubic meters.

The spirit of cooperation between Oxfam, BCFHD, and the local community was embodied in the completion of this vital project, which will contribute significantly to improving the lives of the residents of Hamir village, facilitating movement between its various parts, and strengthening communication between them.

In order to ensure the sustainability of this achievement, the project was handed over to community committees for permanent supervision and continuous maintenance. The committees were also provided with the tools of the “Cash for Work” activity to enable them to benefit from them in maintaining the project and any other projects or initiatives that serve the public interest.

The handover ceremony was attended by:
Mr. Hamid Al-Khulidi, Director of Maqbana Directorate.
Mr. Tawfiq Abdel Khabir, Secretary-General of BCFHD.
Engineer Zaher Al-Yousfi, Project Officer.
Mr. Shahab Abdul Halim, Project Logistics.
Engineer Nabil Al-Hamairi, Supervising Engineer.
