Cholera Awareness Campaign in Taiz.

An awareness radio episode was held as part of the “Cholera Awareness Campaign” in Taiz Governorate, to raise awareness among the community and improve health behavior to identify the causes of the outbreak, its symptoms, and ways to prevent it.

Sponsored by Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD), the episode was broadcast on Watani FM, where Dr. Faten Al-Barkani, Deputy Director of the Health Education Department at the Health Office in the Governorate, was hosted.

During the episode, Dr. Al-Barkani explained that cholera is a bacterial infection that affects the intestines and causes diarrhea and vomiting, and can lead to dehydration and death if not treated promptly.

She stressed the importance of personal hygiene and washing hands with soap and water frequently, eating well-cooked food and drinking safe water, and avoiding eating from street vendors, as key ways to prevent cholera.

She also urged citizens to seek immediate medical attention if any symptoms of cholera appear, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and fever.

This campaign comes as part of the efforts to reduce the spread of cholera in Taiz Governorate and raise health awareness among the community.
