A veterinary team visited a quarantine in Dhubab to support livelihoods and pastoral nutrition.

Within the project “The Integrated Livelihood Support in Famine Risk prone areas in Yemen- Dhubab District Taiz”, a specialized veterinary team today visited Dhubab District in Taiz Governorate.

 

The team consisted of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), represented by Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Bukair, and the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fishery Walefare (MAIFW) Dr. Owsan Muhammad Saleh, in addition to Dr. Dirham Al-Qadasi, President of the Veterinary Association, and the participation of Dr. Faisal Al-Sabri, BCFHD Livelihood Projects Coordinator.

 

The quarantine, where the quarantined sheep were inspected was visited to inspect the quarantied female goats and ensure their safety, in addition to reviewing the results of the veterinary examination before distributing them.

 

It is worth mentioning that the project, as part of its package of services, includes distributing 6,000 heads of productive female goats to 1,500 families in the Dhubab District, at a rate of 4 heads per family. This aim at improving pastoral livelihoods and improving families’ food sewurity and nutrition of these targeted families.
