(BCFHD) concluded the IDP sites management and coordination project in Taiz and Marib governorates, after implementing several activities aimed at improving living conditions for IDPs, in cooperation and participation with the local community, funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).
In Taiz, several maintenance activities carried out at IDP sites in Sala district including the following:
- Constructing an 81-meter-long protective wall to protect IDPs from rain flood risks.
- Maintenance of the sewage system at IDP sites.
- Maintenance of the new building at the Health Institute.
- Maintenance of the water network at IDP sites.
In addition, 7 community projects were implemented in 6 IDP hosting sites. These projects included establishing child-friendly spaces by providing Garden-child Tools consists of (swings-slides-trampoline).
Moreover, 8 other community projects were implemented including distribution of cleaning tools and conducting cleaning campaigns at 8 sites.
While in Marib, the project involved carrying out several activities in all sites managed by (BCFHD), they are as under:
– Al-Faw site in Marib City district.
– Al-Manfa site in Marib City district. and
– Al-Husoon site in Marib Al-Wadi district.
The beginning was with the implementation of a number of maintenance activities, most notably:
- Training fire safety committees, distributing 400 fire extinguishers, and conducting fire safety awareness campaigns at the three sites.
- Installation of 40 street lighting units for the three sites.
- Rehabilitation of the water source (main well) at Al-Faw site was completed that serving more than 423 families.
- Suction of sewage in a total quantity of 2005 cubic meters at the three sites.
Moreover, 10 community projects were implemented including distribution of cleaning items and conducting cleaning campaigns at the three sites.
It is worth mentioning that (BCFHD), with the participation of the local community and funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF), sought through this project to improve the living conditions of IDPs in Taiz and Marib and enable them to have a better, more comfortable, and safer life.
The project aimed to enhance hygiene and public health at these sites, and raise awareness about the importance of personal and environmental cleanliness.
