BCFHD Distributes Drip Irrigation Systems in Ash Shamayatayn District of Taiz Governorate

Within the project of “Emergency Livelihood Assistance to Conflict Affected Population in Taiz through Integrated Food Security and Nutrition Sensitive Support” funded by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (kSrelief), FAO in partnership with the sub-IP (BCFHD) launched the distribution of drip irrigation systems in Bani Omar of Ash Shamayatayn District.
Mr. Riyadh Al-Shamiri , the project M&E Officer, explained that the distribution of drip irrigation systems targeted 150 beneficiary households who will be trained later on installation, operation and maintenance of the provided irrigation system. Mr. Al-Shamiri added, this activity was preceded by several activities within the project that included the distribution of livelihood kit composed of a set of vegetable and legume seeds as well as water tanks , in addition to training the targeted beneficiaries on nutrition education, improvement of nutritional practices, land preparation, crop production and management, harvesting, processing and marketing.
It is worth noting that the project is being implemented in 4 Districts of Taiz Governorate namely: (Shar’ab Al-Rona , Shar’ab Al-Salam, Al-Ta’izah and Al-Shamayatain) targeting 600 HHs.
