Bena Charity for Human Development (BCFHD) concluded the distribution of the third round of Cash Assistance Project for children with malnutrition which is implemented in partnership with the Qatar Red Crescent.

The project is funded by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Mr. Omar Al-Yousofi, the project coordinator, said that last September the project targeted 763 cases of severely acute malnourished children (SAM) as well as cases of moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) within Al-Mudhaffar District including (22 May Heath Center and Al-Wafa Heath Center). Mr. Al-Yousofi added that Cash assistance is transferred monthly to the family of the child (mostly the mother) in order to buy food supplements for the infected child, noting that indicators in Health Centers shows that there is a response in many cases of acute malnutrition which began to recover.

The project also aims to motivate families to refer malnourished children to health centers. The project also focuses on awareness raising and providing consultation for pregnant as well as lactating women, and the detection and referral of malnutrition among children to health centers.
